German "Wedding" Mill
This
iron box mill, which also clamps to a table top, has two sets of initials on it.
There is said to have been a tradition of giving a coffee grinder thus marked
with the couple's initials, as a wedding gift. Their is extensive decoration on
the top of clamp including etched floral filigree and an applied cross, and
remnants of nickel plating. There is also an animals' head over the
drawer, the species or meaning of which I am unable to name. This is a very
large, heavy mill.
